There's are Rodents in my ceiling what am a I gonna do.....

..........in the cornices of our ceilings to be precise which are to my horror wafer thin. This is all very unnerving as I am expecting something to eventually get through, can only presume it's the cold driving them in as there is no food up there?

London living eh........

Been hearing scratching and scampering sounds coming from our cornices for quite a while now, since the colder weather it has got worse. At first we thought it was water or the walls crumbling but lately realised it is Rodents after holes started appearing in the cornices and I f'ing spotted something moving in one above my f'ing head FFS and heard scratching in more than one place at the same time.

I got up there to tape the hole up with gaffer tape and realised just how thin the cornices are.

Anyway we called pest control who put poison in one of the holes and pushed it along in the space as the cornices are obviously fake and hollow. Was advised to cut down these big branches outside that are growing all over our extension roof as the bloke reckoned they were getting in under the roof lining, said he'd never seen rodents in cornices before but said the poison should get then in a week. I cut down the branches immediately and hoped this was the end of it.

2 weeks later and it's worse, more little holes, staining on the cornices in the kitchen which I presume is urine and feces FFS.

Called the pest control today and he said obviously they have not touched the poison but luckily a new product has just come out, some sort of foam that gets on the rodent and kills them, he said it's so new that he can't get for another week but we are lucky as otherwise he'd be at a loss what to do next.
Up shot is he's back next week and hopefully this works but we've got another week of living with this plus the time it will take for them to die.

We have got 3 cats who are waiting eagerly for something to come through, they've been sitting up on the cupboards and scratching and jumping up at the noises.
We have friends coming over for dinner on Saturday too.

Introduce rats - we had mice once, rats moved in and killed and ate the fuckers then the rats fucked off. It was dark, you could hear the rats killing em and the baby mice squealing under the floorboards

Not read the whole thread so dunno if this has been mentioned before....but perhaps buy some 2 " waste piping, cut it into 3ft lengths, get After8 and a few of his mates around, a bit of Vaseline and as they say they'll be like a rat up a drainpipe.......TML ;-)

No change Rios, have emailed Landlords again about this and the blocked drain twice, yesterday and today, they haven't even got back to me, they insist you email repairs as you can't ring them.
I have insisted they come tomorrow when I am off work, if I hear nothing by end of today I will email them telling them we are not paying anymore rent untilm it's sorted and will be contacting Environmental Health forthwith!

You could have squirrels. They're vicious bastards. Friend of mine got back to hers and saw her place trashed, Christmas tree on the floor, looked liked she'd be broken into but nothing taken.

Found two squirrels in her kitchen. They'd got from the tree outside into her loft. She had to chase the vicious gits a bedroom and shut the door.

So there's a thought for you.
